GREAT WAR STORIES for Three’s Newshub funded by NZ On Air

Seven mini documentaries telling personal stories about New Zealanders in the First World War. 

Great War Stories are series of mini documentaries (3-4 minute) telling personal stories about a range of New Zealanders involved in the First World War. AC Productions collaborated with the Alexander Turnbull library, Archives New Zealand and Manatū Taonga – Ministry for Culture and Heritage. 

Each story draws on research into primary texts such as letters, diaries and newspaper accounts and is illustrated with images drawn from the collections of the Alexander Turnbull Library,Archives New Zealand, Nga Taonga Sound & Vision and international archives.. The stories include soldiers, doctors, nurses and those on the home front affected by the First World War.

The first series ran from 4-10 August 2014 and the ffifth & final series screened 19 – 25 April 2018. You can view them on
