OHMS! Protest! A Celebration of Resistance Whakaata Māori 10.15 a.m. ANZAC DAY

The Power of Activism.
Students overthrow Compulsory Military Training.
OHMS! Protest! A Celebration of Resistance, our documentary focuses on the power of activism. The American War in Vietnam was raging. Here the streets were filled with protesting students and peace activists. The protest is brief, bold and effective. Many of us remember that time well.

One of them, teenager Robert Reid and other like-minded students set up OHMS!…Organisation to Halt Military Service, (nothing to do with royalty!) Those who know chemistry know that Ohms law is the symbol of resistance.

With archive film and contemporary interviews we relive those days when CMT, Compulsory Military Training was abolished by the incoming Labour Government and the new Prime Minister Norman Kirk.
